A 21-year-old reporter from near Aleppo, Al-Mu’taz Billah Ibrahim worked in Raqqa for Shaam News Network (SNN), which is a group of Syrian activists created in March 2011 to cover the situation in Syria.
Members of Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) executed Al-Mu’taz Billah Ibrahim on 4 May after holding him hostage and torturing him for two months. According to activist sources, he was executed because of his media activities.
His body was handed over to his mother on 7 May 2014.
