Thelal Ibrahim al-Salhanee was born in 1993 in Aleppo. She is a Chemistry student at the University of Aleppo.

Thelal was a humanitarian activist who was involved in the peaceful movement in the city of Aleppo and its university, where she contributed to relief work for helping displaced civilians and supporting them with food and medical aid and secured accommodation .

Thelal Ibrahim al-Salhanee was arrested alongside two other males on 28 July 2012, at al-Furqan neighborhood near the People of BADR mosque in Aleppo by air force intelligence, and was referred to the criminal security on 8 August 2012.This was the last information received on Thelal, and none of her friends were able to visit her since then, neither her family which is originally based outside the country. She remained incommunicado until 19 February 2014 where sources said that she is in the (deposit) section of Adra Central Prison in favor of the military field court.

Two years after her arrest, the Syrian Government still refuses to release her, and refuses to include her in the lists of exchanges of prisoners.
